Website design and a custom WordPress build for Bundle Training, brought to life with Lottie animation
An online training company whose bright, playful courses save businesses and their teams time. Bundle’s illustrations were made to move, so Lottie animation and custom blocks bring them to life without slowing a thing down.
The Challenge
Bundle Training makes online training content that saves businesses and their employees time, so the website had to show that off. It needed to be as engaging as the courses themselves, not a static brochure. Bundle already had its logo and brand guidelines in place, along with a bold, playful illustration style. My job was to turn that brand into a website: the web design, the WordPress build, optimisation and launch.
The difficult part was the motion. Bundle’s illustrations were made to move, and flat images would have lost most of their character. The animation also had to load quickly and look sharp on every screen size. On top of that, the Bundle team needed to manage it themselves inside WordPress, without asking a developer every time a page changed.
Lottie animation and custom blocks
Rather than relying on video files or heavy GIFs, the animations run as Lottie: lightweight JSON files exported from the animation software and rendered as vectors in the browser. They stay crisp at any size, weigh a fraction of an equivalent video, and can be controlled from code. They can play on scroll, loop, or wait until they’re in view before starting.
To make that manageable, I built a series of custom blocks for the WordPress editor. Each one takes a Lottie JSON file alongside its content and settings, so the team can drop an animated section onto a page, swap the animation, or change the copy around it in the same way they’d edit any other block. The animation is part of the content, not something hard-coded into a template.
The Outcome
The finished site matches Bundle’s brand: bright, characterful and full of movement. It’s still built properly underneath, so it stays quick, scales cleanly from phone to desktop and is simple for the team to keep up to date. I designed the pages around the existing brand guidelines, then built, optimised and launched the site, so the brand Bundle had already invested in comes through fully online.
